Police Advisory Commission
The Police Advisory Commission is composed of five members who are appointed by the Mayor in consultation with the Chief of Police for staggered terms of two to four years and whose duties include advising and making recommendations to the Chief of Police on matters concerning public safety and police services within the City of Ferndale, such as the following:
- To review and provide a community perspective regarding procedures and programs of the Police Department.
- To promote public awareness of the Police Department’s services and programs, including, business and residential crime prevention programs, traffic enforcement and community outreach initiatives.
- To serve as a liaison between the Police Department and the community.
- To educate individuals and community groups regarding the Police Department’s functions, programs, processes and limitations.
