Communications Officer Mike Chaplin

Mike Chaplin has been a volunteer with the Ferndale Police Department since 2008, working in the areas of radio and satellite public safety communications.

Mike retired from Iowa State University in 2005 after serving 36 years as Professor of Plant Nutrition and Head of the Department of Horticulture. He has held an amateur radio license since 1972 and is the operator of amateur radio station W7SS0.

Mike encourages everyone to have a workable family communications plan in the event of an emergency.
